The Techniques and developmental of stop motion animation

                                                                       Part 1 Pioners
Phenakistoscope

The Phenakistoscope was acknowledged by the ancient Greeks  and experimented on by Newton. However it wasn't until 1829 when Joseph Plateau came up with the idea . The device invented in 1841. It worked by spinning the circle(Disc ) by using it's handle in front of a mirror, by looking in the mirror  through the slits you see the images arrayed on the disc move.

Joseph Plateau

Joseph Plateau was born in  1801 and died in 1883.He was the to prove that an image can move. He done this by creating the Phenakitoscope in 1842

Zoetrope

The invetion of the  zoetrope ,one of the pre-cinema animation devices, is attributed To william horner wh invented in 1833  to .The  device was up of a drum (circular body ) which stood on a stand . On the  drum there were slits which allowed the user to look at the images inside while the phenakistoscope was usable by only one person the zoetrope could by multiple people.  This was in order to see the images move the drum  had to be moving

The invetion of the

thaumathrope

These work by having an image on each side of the circle . When is spun the image seem to move,This is believed to be because of Persistence of vision. This is says that an image remains on the retina for about 25 seconds and this allow us to precept motion .

Cinematograph
The cinematograph was a camera that could double ip as a projector and was invented in 1895 by the Lumiere brothers. The invention  work by holding the film in front of a lens using the holes at the side the device had a hand crank allowing for the fil to move wile not using any electricity though this could have caused problems with the quality in speed of the recording or playback however by moving the film the which was light audience could see the image move .

Visual  explanation  of how a cinematograph ran

Kinetoscope
the  device which was developed by edison, between 1889 and 1892 ,worked by using photograph shot with a high shutter rate and moving in front of lens using electricity. When each image came in front of the illusion of movement was created

Praxinoscope
Is the successor of the zoetrope and works by seeing the images that are place alongside the edge of the
device the device used mirrors which allowed the viewer to see the image better as it magnified it.

The stop trick works by using the slight jump in the shots , which were caused when stoped recordin the camera stooping recording this was discovered by the cinemagician  Georges Melies
Zoopraxiscope
This device work by the images inside a glass disk rotating at high speeds allowing for the impresion that they are moving

Part2

Willis O Brien
Having many jobs including a sports cartoonist for the San  Francisco Daily. In 1913 while being assistant to the head architect of the 1913 San Francisco World's Fair, where his work was displayed
During this time he created clay figures which were animated with the help of a local newsreel cameraman .
This allowed him to create his first film which lead to bigger projects such as King Kong.

George Pal
A graduate from the Budapest Academy of art  where he graduated in architecture and advanced drawing . After starting his own studio pal move d away from motion picture cartooning and started to do stop motion . This can be seen in examples of  his work on the Papetoons which wooden models with restricted movement

Disney
The Disney legacy starts in 1923 with the  his animated series Alice' wonder land which consisted of a child actress interacting with animated.  In 1928 The most recognized character in Disney history got created Mickey mouse. This enabled Disney to launch them selves further .This was head but their first feature length film within Snow White  . This animation was hand drawn though some computer animation was used. However this changed in 2005 with their first release of 3D Film

Hayo Miazaky
Know for his anime creation . Which are a layered form creating a flowing movent through the use of little movements. He began his in 1947 with Toei animation. After many successful titles he co-funded Studio Ghibli which specializes in anime . He was influenced  by Disney an may others
Tim Burton
A stop motion animator who started his carer with The short entitled Iland of Doctor Agor.He worked as storybord, artist, animator and coceptept atist however his dark style clashed with the Disney standarts and he won't to work on solo projects
Pixar
Specializes in 3D animation. They first were subsidary of lucas films however they vecame Independent  aand stayed until recentlly as they are part of Disney
Nickpark
Is a clay annimator. This that he uses clay in order to create movement . The clay is modeled around little skeletal frmes calded armatures.
The quay brother
Speciilizing in really European stop motion animtion which  is the same tipe that influnced them they create very abstract animation using soft focuses

.

Part 3

Johnny Bravo is an old cartoon network show, revolving  around a muscle bound guy trying   to pick up girls. Giving the content the show was more likely targeted at people with ages between 12-16. However it jokes with two meaning.

Given  the  dark  and abstract style of the animation . I believe it is tageted at an adult animation

Given the highly explicit material the video is not targeted at children and but at adults
